IoT Coverage Enhancement Using Repetition in Energy Constrained Devices: An Analytic Approach

Novel Internet-of-Things (IoT) access technologies are emerging as part of the next generation cellular networks. These specifically oriented towards energy-limited IoT devices that scattered far away from their serving base station. One key methods achieving deep coverage is via repeated transmissions data. However, repetition leads to higher energy consumption and reduces device battery-lifetime. Thus, a trade-off between exists requires careful investigation. This paper evaluates effects transmission on enhancing probability cost incurred energy. Using an empirical profile based traffic load distance station, we derive models for links utilize two different diversity combining techniques. In particular, focus common are: 1) Selection Combining (SC) 2) Maximal Ratio (MRC). We tools stochastic geometry formulate analytic framework compares these methods. can aid network designers in jointly maximizing while minimizing expenditure devices.
